The Moot Court Society of Radha Krishna Law College gives students the experience of arguing a case before a bench long before they enter a real courtroom. A moot is a simulated court hearing: students are given a legal problem, research the law, prepare written submissions and argue their side before judges, who question them just as a court would.
Advocacy is a skill that is learned by doing. Through regular moots, students learn to think on their feet, build a legal argument, cite authorities correctly and speak with confidence and courtesy before the court.
Our moot court hall
The College has a dedicated moot court hall designed like a courtroom, with a raised bench for the judges, counsel tables for both sides, a witness box and seating for an audience. Moots, mock trials and advocacy sessions are held here throughout the year.

What the Society does
- Intra-college moot court competition — held every year so that every student gets the chance to argue a case.
- Research and memorial-writing workshops — how to read a moot problem, find and use case law and statutes, and draft written submissions (memorials).
- Oral advocacy training — structuring arguments, answering questions from the bench, time management and courtroom etiquette.
- Mock trials — examination and cross-examination of witnesses, framing of issues and presentation of evidence.
- Client counselling and mediation exercises — interviewing a client, understanding the facts and advising on options.
- Court visits — observing proceedings in the district courts to see how real cases are argued.
- Selection for inter-college competitions — preparing teams to represent the College in moots organised by other institutions.
Part of your degree
Moot court work is a compulsory practical component of legal education under the Bar Council of India (BCI) rules. Students participate in moot court exercises, observe trial proceedings and maintain records of their work as part of the practical training paper. The Society's activities help students prepare for this and do well in it.
Skills you develop
- Legal research and analysis
- Persuasive legal writing and drafting
- Public speaking and confident courtroom presence
- Teamwork, preparation and time management
- Professional conduct and ethics expected of an advocate
